Twinning session EU-US at the TRB in Washington
DURABROADS, together with associate EU co-funded Project LCE4ROADS, was presented during the 95th Edition of the Transport Research Board (TRB) in Washington (US) on the 12 of January.
Concretely, both projects were included in the EU-US twinning session organised to promote the bilateral collaboration between Europe and the United States to develop research activities in transport infrastructure projects. The session was attended by around 120 infrastructure experts from both regions.
DURABROADS was introduced by coordinator Daniel Castro-Fresno (University of Cantabria) and Nelson Gibson (Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center/FHWA) who described latest advances made by the consortium in the creation of the new bitumen and asphalt.
In the coming months, bitumen samples will be sent to be tested at the labs of the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center in Washington. In parallel, the European partners will continue developing a new asphalt composed of less natural aggregates.
